You have done the research, saved the clinic's Instagram, and added it to your Seoul itinerary. But if this is your first time visiting a dermatology clinic in Korea — especially as a foreign visitor — you may have a very reasonable question: what actually happens when you walk through the door?

This guide walks through the complete experience at Lalian Cheongdam Clinic, from your first inquiry to your post-treatment recovery. Nothing is assumed. Everything is explained.

Before You Arrive: The Pre-Visit Preparation

Step 1 — Initial Inquiry and Consultation Booking

At Lalian, international patients typically initiate contact through our website or direct messaging. Our team responds in English and guides you through the pre-visit questionnaire, which covers your primary skin concerns, relevant medical history, any medications or supplements you are taking, and your planned dates in Seoul.

This information is reviewed by our medical director before your appointment, so your in-person consultation begins with context — not from zero.

Step 2 — Preparing Your Skin

We provide written pre-care instructions based on your planned treatment category. General principles include: avoiding active retinoids and exfoliating acids 5 to 7 days before energy-based treatments, arriving without heavy make-up, and disclosing all supplements (particularly fish oil and vitamin E, which can affect bruising with injectable treatments).

If you are arriving from a long-haul flight, we recommend scheduling your consultation for at least 24 hours after landing. Jet lag and dehydration can affect skin assessment readings and your comfort during consultation.

The Day of Your Visit

Step 3 — Arrival and Check-In

Lalian Cheongdam Clinic is located at 2F, Dosan-daero 59-gil 9, Gangnam District, Seoul. The clinic operates on an appointment-only basis, which means there is no shared waiting area or back-to-back scheduling in the same treatment space. You arrive to a private, calm environment.

Upon arrival, you will complete a brief intake form and a medical history confirmation. If you have not already submitted these ahead of time, they are available in English.

Step 4 — 3D MetaView Skin Analysis

Before any clinical conversation begins, we conduct a 3D MetaView skin imaging scan. This is a non-invasive photographic analysis that captures your skin's current condition across multiple parameters: pigmentation distribution, pore size and density, hydration levels, surface texture, and subsurface structure.

The analysis takes approximately 10 minutes and generates a detailed visual report that our medical director uses as the foundation for your consultation. You will see the results on screen — nothing is left to guesswork or verbal description.

Step 5 — 1:1 Medical Consultation with Dr. Jiyeon Kang

The consultation with our medical director is unhurried and structured. Dr. Jiyeon Kang reviews your MetaView results, asks about your concerns and treatment goals, and explains the options that are clinically appropriate for your skin — including what each option can and cannot achieve, the realistic timeline for results, and what the recovery period involves.

This is the stage where questions are expected and welcomed. There is no pressure to commit to any treatment during the consultation itself.

Step 6 — Treatment Plan Presentation

Following the consultation, a written treatment plan is presented in English. This document includes: the recommended treatment or combination protocol, the clinical reasoning behind each recommendation, expected outcomes and timeline, aftercare requirements, and a transparent cost summary.

If you decide to proceed, treatment can in many cases be scheduled on the same day or the following day, depending on your Seoul timeline.

During Treatment

Step 7 — Preparation and Comfort Management

Topical numbing cream is applied as standard for most injectable and energy-based treatments. The preparation period is typically 20 to 40 minutes. During this time, you are in a private treatment room.

Step 8 — The Treatment Itself

All clinical treatments at Lalian are performed by Dr. Kang personally. There is no delegation of the treatment procedure to clinical nurses or aestheticians. The duration varies by treatment type — injectable sessions typically run 30 to 60 minutes; energy device treatments such as Ultherapy may take 60 to 90 minutes.

Step 9 — Immediate Post-Treatment Assessment

Immediately following treatment, Dr. Kang conducts a brief assessment of the treated area. Post-care products are applied as appropriate. You receive written aftercare instructions in English before you leave.

After Your Treatment: Recovery and Follow-Up

Step 10 — Recovery Planning for International Patients

We specifically account for the fact that many of our patients are returning home within days of treatment. Recovery expectations — including expected redness duration, swelling timelines, activity restrictions, and skincare adjustments — are communicated in detail before you leave, with a written summary you can reference at home.

Treatment Type

Typical Recovery Period

Ultherapy Prime

Mild redness 4–6 hours; some tenderness 1–2 days

Thermage FLX

Minimal — most patients resume normal activity same day

Rejuran / Skin Boosters

Micro-puncture marks 12–24 hours; possible mild swelling 1–2 days

Dermal Fillers

Variable; mild bruising possible for 3–5 days

Mild redness 24–48 hours; pigment darkening before clearing

Minimal; possible mild redness same day

Step 11 — Remote Follow-Up

For international patients, we offer a follow-up review via message or video call at 4 weeks post-treatment. You send photos; our team provides clinical assessment and any recommendations for your continued skin care or future treatment planning.

Frequently Asked Questions for International Visitors

Is the consultation conducted in English?

Yes. Dr. Kang and our patient coordinator communicate in English throughout the consultation and treatment process. We do not require a translator for international patients.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking your consultation at minimum 2 weeks before your Seoul travel dates, and ideally 4 weeks in advance. This allows time for pre-visit preparation and ensures your preferred dates are available.

Can I have multiple treatments in one visit?

Depending on the treatments selected and your recovery timeline in Seoul, combination protocols are often possible. This is assessed during consultation and planned around your departure date.

What if I have a reaction after I return home?

All patients receive a direct contact for our clinical team. Post-treatment concerns are assessed remotely with photographic documentation, and in the rare event that medical follow-up is required, we provide written clinical notes you can share with a local physician.
